What medication to take with you when you travel
Travelling with sick or irritable children is no fun at all, so here are ten medications to take on your travels to make everyone’s lives a bit more bearable.
At a time when the UK is under lockdown to counter Coronavirus it seems the height of optimism to talk about what medicine to take when you can travel. However, sooner or later the restrictions will lift and, when they do, we’ll all be able to broaden our horizons once more.
When we do, though, families will encounter a familiar problem. What happens if one of your children falls ill during the trip? Whether it’s car sickness, earache due to pressure changes in an aircraft or all the usual viruses, you’ll want a handy remedy on hand to make their life (and yours) a little easier.
In medication terms, here’s our handy list of 10 must haves when travelling with children:

- Paracetamol
- Ibuprofen
- Antihistamine (Piriton and/or Zirtek)
- Oral Rehydration Solution (Dioralyte)
- Moisturiser cream
- Topical antiseptic cream, liquid or spray
- 5-1% Hydrocortisone cream
- Steristrips and elastoplast
- Sunscreen, ideally a SPF 30-50, if you are going somewhere sunny.
- Don’t forget travel vaccines malaria medication, where appropriate.
Last but not least, don’t forget travel insurance. There are all sorts of things which can go wrong while you’re on your travels. If they do it pays to make sure you’re covered financially.
